06 Nov Atlas Advisors advised Pacific Star S.A. de C.V. on the formation of a joint venture with Sysco Corporation
Mexico City, Mexico, November 6, 2014 — Pacific Star, S.A. de C.V. (“Pacific Star”) today announced the execution of a definitive agreement to establish a 50 percent joint venture with Sysco Corporation (“Sysco”), North America’s leading foodservice distributor. Atlas Advisors acted as exclusive financial advisor to Pacific Star on the transaction.
Pacific Star is a leading foodservice distributor in Mexico, having operated since 1989 with distribution centers servicing over 1,700 points-of-sale in the major metropolitan areas of Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Tijuana. Pacific Star primarily services chain accounts, including fast food and casual dining restaurants, casinos, theme parks, movie theaters and hotels throughout Mexico. Pacific Star’s majority equity shareholder is privately-owned Arancia, S.A. de C.V. (“Arancia”).
The transaction represents Sysco’s second investment in Latin America, following the acquisition of a 50 percent interest in Mayca Distribuidores, S.A., a leading foodservice distributor in Costa Rica, announced in June 2014.
